The US oil and gas pipeline safety administration institution DOT,OPS and TSA are introduced in this article,and some measures for the promotion of pipeline safety,such as a unified telephone alarm system, the national pipeline mapping system and pipeline safety promotion organizations are also introduced. The main content of the oil and gas pipeline regulations of the United States,such as Pipeline Safety Regulations,Code of Federal Regulation,Pipeline Safety Improvement Act and Pipeline Inspection are described. The U S standardization that is closely related with the oil and gas pipeline industry and involved in its processes and management is studied. To study the U S oil and gas pipeline management ideas and learn from their experience in standardization and practices is of great importance for our country,which is helpful to draw up the oil and gas pipeline industry standards development strategy and establish the system regulations with international standard in China.
